How to Play

Orbital Odyssey is a sci-fi RPG built for Discord. Take control of your character, fight your way through enemies across 10 unique sectors, gear up with powerful equipment, level your skills and build your legacy. Every level you gain makes you stronger, unlocking new enemies, better loot and more of the game to explore.

In Orbital Odyssey you defeat enemies, take on raids with other players, compete in duels and matchmaking, complete missions, level your skills and much more. Everything feeds into making your character stronger.

The most important command is /attack — this is how you fight enemies and progress. Every few levels, use /travel to move to the next sector where tougher enemies drop better loot.

TIP: Check your /stats regularly to keep track of cooldowns and your build!

Use /menu to access everything in the game from one place. You can also use slash commands directly — type /help for a full list.

Orbital Odyssey also has a Web Dashboard where you can manage your inventory, gear, trades, pet codex and more. Access it anytime from /menu or at exploreorbitalodyssey.com.

You earn Experience (XP) from fighting enemies, completing missions, exploring, winning duels and participating in raids. Once you have enough XP, you level up automatically.

Check your current level and XP progress with /stats. Each level boosts your base stats and lets you access stronger gear from /crates, /vote and raids.

Your main way of progressing. /attack fights your current enemy, earning you XP, credits and item drops. If an enemy defeats you, use /revive for 100 credits or use a healing potion to stay in the fight.

Your combat effectiveness comes from 7 stats:

🏃 Agility reduces your /attack cooldown
🛡️ Armor reduces damage taken
📚 Intellect improves your spell damage
🎯 Critical Hit Chance your chance of dealing critical damage
💢 Critical Hit Damage the bonus damage from a critical hit

View your full profile anytime on the Web Dashboard via /menu.

Your stats grow by levelling up, equipping better gear, and using The Altar where you spend credits to permanently upgrade your character. Every 100 Altar uses also grants +1% to both crit chance and crit damage.

Crates contain gear, potions, crystals and other useful items. Buy them with /crates using credits, claim a free daily crate with /vote, or earn them from winning duels and completing raids.

Equip stronger gear to boost your stats. Check what you're wearing in /stats or on the Web Dashboard. Equip gear from your /inventory by selecting the Equipment category and hitting Equip Item.

To unequip gear, use Manage Gear in /stats, or use the Strip button to unequip everything at once. The Dashboard also lets you manage gear with a full visual layout.

Potions temporarily boost your character. There are 3 core effects:

Agility — Halves your /attack cooldown
Stamina — Reduces damage taken
Strength — Increases your damage dealt

Use potions from your /inventory under Consumables, or with /use.

Crystals let you /cast powerful spells that deal heavy elemental damage. Spells have no cooldown but the crystal is consumed when you cast. Higher tier crystals deal more damage. Craft crystals through the Mining & Refining skill.

Your inventory is organised into 5 categories: Consumables, Equipment, Relics, Enchants and Materials. You can sort by tier, name or amount, and sell or use items directly from each tab. Enchants can be grouped by type or gear slot.

You can also browse and manage your inventory on the Web Dashboard.

Check your current mission with /quest. A new mission becomes available every 12 hours. Complete them within the time limit to earn bonus XP and useful items.

Challenge another player with /duel. Duels are turn-based — pick your attacks, use abilities and items to outsmart your opponent. The winner earns a crate and XP. Choose from abilities like Last Stand, Desperate Gambit and Gambler's Strike.

Use /match to find a random opponent. Choose between Casual for a quick fight, or Ranked to compete on the ladder. You get 3 rewarded matches per day (5 for members).

Ranked matches run in seasons. Win to earn Ranked Points and climb from Bronze all the way to Orbital. The higher you climb, the better your rewards at the end of the season — exclusive crates, avatars and titles. Check your rank with /rank. You need to be Level 15 to compete in ranked.

Team up to take down powerful raid bosses. Raids last 10 minutes and everyone who contributes damage earns XP and a loot crate. The rarity of your reward depends on your level and which boss you fought. Raids can only be started by server admins.

Learn up to 2 skills (2nd requires Membership). Each skill lets you gather unique materials and craft powerful items. Your skills level from 1 to 99, unlocking milestone bonuses and new recipes as you progress.

The four skills are:
- Mining & Refining — Mine minerals and craft powerful crystals
- Biofabrication & Medicinal — Gather biological compounds and brew potions
- Engineering — Disenchant gear into materials and craft infusions
- Scavenging & Exploring — Hunt for materials and craft Explorer's Kits

Use Browse Skills in the skills menu to preview all bonuses and recipes.

As your skill levels up, you unlock milestone bonuses at levels 20, 40, 60, 80 and 99. These include bonus credits, extra material drops, reduced cooldowns, bonus spell damage, and more. Reaching level 99 grants Mastery which doubles all your skill bonuses.

Trade with other players using /trade. You'll get a link to the dashboard where you can set up your trade. Skill materials, items produced by skills (including infusions), and gear can all be traded. Credits cannot be traded. Trade requests last 30 minutes.

Pets spawn randomly while you fight enemies. When one appears, choose to catch it or scare it away. Use Containment Cages for a base catch rate, or craft Starforged Cages (1.5x) and Orbital Ion Cages (2x) for better odds. Scaring a pet away gives you Pet Food and a chance at rare cage parts.

Use Signal Beacons to guarantee a creature spawns on your next attack. Multiple beacons stack as charges.

Track your pet collection with /codex or on the Web Dashboard. View your discovery progress across all tiers from Common to Mythical. Select any pet to see its full stats, level, bonuses and catch rates.

Pets in your party provide passive bonuses like bonus damage, lifesteal, extra gold, cooldown reduction and more. Feed your pets Pet Food (75 XP each) or defeat enemies to level them up. Bonuses double by max level (10). You can have 2 active pet bonuses by default, 3 at Level 50, and 4 at Prestige 1.

Save your party setup to 3 loadout slots and swap between them instantly. Trade pets with other players using /trade — you'll be taken to the Web Dashboard where you can switch between Items and Pets tabs to set up your trade. Both players must offer a pet, and Legendary/Mythical pets are trade-locked.

Orbital Odyssey offers 2 premium services: Membership and Premium. Membership is an upgrade you can purchase for your character, while Premium is an upgrade for your server, and can only be purchased by Server Admins.
